South Korea announced it will send $20 million to the United Nations to support the latter’s health aid program in North Korea. As per the terms of the deal, the World Health Organization will use $10.68 million this year and the rest in 2007 to purchase medicine and improve the health care system for North Korean women and children. North Korea remains troubled by chronic food shortages and has depended on foreign aid to supply food to its people.
