The construction and distribution of housing and sanitation facilities are still the highest priority in Haiti, a report from the European Commission, ECHO and European Union stated. Rubble needs to be cleared to make space for more permanent settlements for earthquake survivors, majority of whom are staying in spontaneous camps with poor waste disposal and sanitation facilities. This lack of facilities, the report said, is increasing the risks of widespread diarrhea outbreak. The report noted that majority of the 396 health-related groups currently on the ground will be leaving soon.
