Grand National Party Chairperson Chung Mong-joon resigned June 3 to take responsibility for the party’s poor showing in the country’s local elections on June 2, Reuters reports. The Grand National Party is South Korea’s current ruling party, but it performed poorly in the recent elections, losing seven of 16 major races in the country’s largest provinces and cities to the opposition Democratic Party.
