The pace of the post-tsunami reconstruction in Aceh could gather speed with the announcement of a $250 million aid from a multi-donor trust fund. Earlier, Kuntoro Mangkusubroto, the recently-appointed chief of the Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Agency for Aceh, bewailed the slow progress in the rehabilitation efforts, which he blamed on the lack of coordination between government agencies and the parliament. In a statement, the relief official reiterated the need for "coordination of initiatives by key stakeholders" and said that the trust fund provided "an appropriate forum for this coordination to take place." Under the plan, $150 million will pay for the construction and repair of houses, $72 million for the rehabilitation of vital infrastructure, and $28 million for the establishment of land ownership system and rules.
