    Tunisia

By Ma. Rizza Leonzon // 12 January 2011

Tunisian President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali has blamed “gangs of thugs” for the violent protests in the nation, which he called “terrorist acts.”

The protests broke out due to unemployment. Ali has vowed to create 300,000 new jobs, Agence France-Presse reports.

The U.S. has called for restraint amid the unrest in Tunisia.
