British International Development Minister Douglas Alexander announced that his government is ready to provide fresh funding to Bangladesh to help it recover from the devastation caused by Cyclone Sidr. Of the total amount, USD6.3 million will go to repairing houses and cyclone shelters, while USD60 million will be used to help Bangladesh deal properly with climate change. Another USD120 million will be appropriated to the Urban Partnership for Poverty Reduction Program, and over USD25 million will give out-of-school youth the chance to get basic education and acquire vocational skills.
