The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will provide assistance to Ukraine's financial sector depending "on whether there is an agreement" between Ukraine and the International Monetary Fund, EBRD President Thomas Mirow told

. "We are ready to invest more than 1 billion euros (USD1.27 billion) in Ukraine's financial system and real economy if there is an agreement with the IMF." EBRD earlier announced that it was willing to invest EUR500 million in some 20 Ukrainian banks.
