The United Nations Development Program has earmarked USD25 million to help strengthen the capacity of parliaments, human rights organizations, anti-corruption commissions and other national institutions in developing countries in 2010. The funding will be spent to foster inclusive governance.
“Capable, inclusive, responsive states are a prerequisite for development, including for the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals,” said UNDP Democratic Governance Practice Director Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi. “Therefore we are fully committed to harnessing and optimizing our resources to that end.”
