The U.S. government will provide USD320 million to help combat avian flu, bringing its total contribution for the global campaign to USD949 million. The pledge was announced at the International Ministerial Conference on Avian and Pandemic Influenza. The funding will be used to enhance preparedness and communication, disease surveillance and detection, and outbreak response and containment.
