Lesotho is the latest recipient of a multi-million-dollar grant from the Millennium Challenge Corporation. The $360 million assistance “signifies America’s enduring bipartisan support for Africa’s development, our commitment to working together with the peoples of Africa to resolve conflicts, to combat disease, to fight poverty with economic growth, and to expand education for the poor,” said U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who attended the signing ceremony in Washington. The country joins 12 others – Madagascar, Cape Verde, Honduras, Nicaragua, Georgia, Armenia, Vanuatu, Benin, Ghana, Mali, El Salvador, and Mozambique – in the list of beneficiaries of the three-year-old aid program.
