LONDON — It’s not just women leaders who can be mentors and support other women in the sector. Men can also play a critical role in ensuring that women are given the opportunities to succeed and land top positions.
Men can be great allies, according to Traci Baird, president and CEO of EngenderHealth. Based on her own experience, Baird said she believes there are plenty of men in the sector who are willing to share their influence and advocate for women.
Dr. Roopa Dhatt, executive director and co-founder of Women in Global Health, said that men can support women without feeling threatened. She encouraged men with decision-making power to be deliberate in opening up opportunities for women and to acknowledge their female mentors.
Devex spoke to development leaders at the Women in Dev conference in London to get their advice for men on how to support women in their development careers.
