Webinar: A guide to consulting with the World Bank

Roberto Amorosino, senior HR specialist with the World Bank Group, joins Devex for the second installment of consulting with development organizations. Amorosino breaks down various ways to work with the bank and offers advice on CV templates, how to gain visibility for unadvertised opportunities, and what skills and experiences are in demand.

    By Emma Smith

Roberto Amorosino, a former senior HR specialist with the World Bank Group, joined Devex for the second in a series of webinars on consulting with specific development organizations. The bank is always looking to attract the best talent and diversify its workforce he said, and this includes finding people that can work with them on a short-term basis according to their specific needs.

Landing a consulting gig with the bank can be highly competitive and consultants should first ensure they are familiar with its structure, priorities, and the work it is doing, said Amorosino. It’s also important that consultants don’t wait for a position to come up to send their CV and cover letter.

“The key is to understand there is not only one way to express interest in a development organization like the World Bank,” explained Amorosino. “Equally as important and sometimes more powerful,” he added, is “to engage, to connect, to some extent to network with the target organization.”
