The World Food Program and the Food and Agriculture Organization launched on April 15 a platform that aims to improve the coordination of global responses to food security issues in humanitarian crises.
The Rome-based Food Security Cluster will be managed by a small global team led by its newly appointed coordinator, Graham Farmer. The team includes representatives of FAO, WFP, the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and other non-governmental and humanitarian organizations.
The cluster will support the coordination of food security-related assistance, including providing food aid and improving food production, in countries and regions afffected by disasters, emergencies and other humanitarian crises.
