The World Food Program is asking international donors to contribute $4 million so it can continue feeding 382,000 people in Mauritania. The agency’s relief program “is facing a complete break in supplies at the end of July -exactly the time of year when food needs are at their annual peak at the height of the ‘lean season,” according to its statement. “Lack of support at this critical time would be a massive failure by those who can very easily afford to make a difference,” Sory Ouane, who heads WFP’s office in Mauritania, said.
