Measuring its own impact on the environment, the World Food Program this month started using carbon emission calculators in flights that the organization’s staff take for official trips.
“The objective of our carbon emissions calculator is to be able to both track and report on our travel patterns. By measuring and monitoring our carbon footprint in travel, WFP can better understand where to concentrate attention to minimize our impact on the planet,” WFP said in a statement.
WFP would use data gathered through the CO2 monitor to design its program in reducing emissions.
