The ongoing review and reform of the U.S. development policy may well diminish the independence of 6-year-old Millennium Challenge Corp. as the Obama administration moves toward centralization and harmonization of its aid efforts under the State Department, This is Africa said in a recent post.
Citing the ongoing Presidential Study Directive on U.S. Global Development Policy and the Quadrennial Diplomacy and Development Review, the post noted that the development of a “whole of government approach” toward aid likely under the State Department flagship “would not necessarily fit with the MCC’s model.”
