The World Bank agreed to extend $232.62 million in loan and grant to Ethiopia. The aid package includes $130 million for the Electricity Access Expansion II Project, which according to Luiz Maurer, World Bank task team leader of the project, “will establish a sustainable program to expand access to electricity in rural communities that have long been disadvantaged and marginalized by the low levels of connection.” Another $100 million will support an irrigation and drainage project while the rest will go to Stockpile Project I, an initiative aimed to destroy publicly-held obsolete pesticide stockpile and similar waste.
