Jorge Familiar Calderon is the new vice president and corporate secretary of the World Bank Group.
The Mexican national served as the chief executive officer of the government-owned financial institution, Instituto del Fondo Nacional para el Consumo de los Trabajadores.
Familiar also served in the World Bank’s board as executive director and alternative executive director for Mexico for four years. Prior to this, he worked at the Banking and Securities Commission of Mexico, where he was appointed in 1999 as vice chairman of securities and derivatives markets supervision and a member of the board of governors.
Familiar, who holds a master’s degree in finance and an undergraduate diploma in accounting, will start his new job Aug. 9.
