The plight of technology entrepreneurs, specifically those who are women, in the developing world has yet to become a mainstream issue in international development, says Valerie D’Costa, infoDev program manager at the World Bank.
InfoDev supports innovative projects around information and communication technology for development. It tries to “facilitate the journey from mind to market,” D’Costa told Devex President Raj Kumar on the sidelines of the 2012 European Development Days.
Watch the conversation between Kumar and D’Costa about the challenges faced by technology entrepreneurs in developing countries and reasons why donor investment in these entrepreneurs is worth it, part of a series of conversations we video-taped with global development leaders in the center of EDD12 in Brussels.
