During a high-level meeting of the United Nations General Assembly, world leaders reassured Africa that they are ready to help the region combat poverty. U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said that Africa needs USD72 billion in aid each year. There is a concern that donor countries may not be able to achieve their target of doubling funding for Africa by 2010.
