The Africa Projects Development Centre Group, otherwise called the “Centre” comprises the Africa Projects Development Centre (APDC) and the Research, Development & Training Initiative (RDTI). It is located in Gwagwalada, at the outskirts of Abuja, the capital of Nigeria
APDC Group is an organization focused on incubation and nurturing of business ideas, capacity building, training and skills acquisition.
While agriculture occupies the Centre stage of their business, APDC Group focus is on all sectors. Its main function is to incubate potential young entrepreneurs in various aspects of the agro-industry and the creative arts, with a view to creating employment and improving livelihoods. It exploits value chain addition as a panacea to the problem of unemployment in Nigeria and Africa at large. The Centre is a largely youth-run hub (age 18 – 35), where several brainstorming is done to extend the agricultural value chains and improves farming with technological innovation for urban and semi-urban agriculture. It conducts training and incubation for agribusiness enterprises, some of which include Poultry, Fishery, Horticulture (Cucumber, Tomato, Pepper, and Cabbage), Snails, and Mushrooms.
The Fashionistas Enterprise aims to expand the number of young people they can impact to further achieve the Centre’s vision and mission of reducing unemployment and helping young people achieve their career potentials. Youth and women are the major players of this industry and constitute a high number of their target beneficiaries. The enterprise promotes cultural integration, identity, and universal acceptance of the African wear heritage.
It aims to serve as a centre for the growth of African culture and its fashion, promoting and empowering women and young people in the trade of fashion and its management. It will aim to create and supports policies that favour the growth of the fashion industry in Africa starting from Nigeria, to collaborate and participate at high, medium and low-level advocacy for the creative industry in Africa. It prioritises gender balance, equality and equity of gender in the day-to-day operations, team selections and employment aimed at 50:50 ratio. The enterprise is created with a proposed impact to stimulate local production of cotton and manufacture of African fabrics as a path to strengthening the economy through foreign exchange from cultural export.
