History and evolution
The African Center for Higher Studies in Management was created within the framework of the Community of West African States (CEAO) in application of a decision taken by the Heads of State at the Bamako Conference, in 1978.
The establishment only came into operation in 1985, after it was decided to transfer to it the heritage of the Higher School of Business Management (ESGE) created by the Republic of Senegal in 1979 and which issued a Higher Diploma in Business Management (DSGE) for executives of public and private companies who were recruited with an entry level of Bac + 4 to Bac + 5 for a training of 18 months and 6 months of long-term mission in a company .
The resumption of ESGE by the CEAO to create the CESAG, was part of a strategy of the sub-regional organization to develop high-level training within the space adapted to the African context and as an alternative to training provided in Europe. or in America. The CESAG / CEAO operated from 1986 to 1993 and issued two (02) diplomas: the (Higher Diploma in Business Management "DSGE") and the (Higher Diploma in Health Services Management "DSGS").
With the dissolution of the CEAO in March 1994, the CESAG was taken over, on November 16, 1995, by the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO) on behalf of the UEMOA member states, concerned about preserve this tool for sub-regional integration and management capacity building.
Since then, the CESAG has been "an international public establishment, specialized in training, research and consultation, endowed with legal personality, financial and administrative autonomy, and having its headquarters in Dakar", headed by a Council. Administration chaired by the Governor of the BCEAO.
