About

The African Guarantee and Economic Cooperation Fund (FAGACE) is an international financial institution specializing in the promotion of public and private investment. It was established on February 10, 1977 in Kigali, Rwanda.

THE FAGACE'S MISSION

Contribute to the economic and social development of our Member States by facilitating access to finance for SMEs.

The idea of creating a Guarantee Fund capable of responding to the needs of the States arose from the initiative of the Heads of State and Government of the OCAM, formerly the African and Mauritian Common Organization, whose major concern was:

  •  to strengthen the links of cooperation and solidarity of the members of the organization,
  •  to promote the harmonious growth of their economies,
  •  to offer maximum security to foreign and domestic capital wishing to invest in Africa.
In 2017, after 40 years of success and challenges, the Fund is embarking on a new era of change in order to respond more effectively to the financing of the economies of its member states in a changing Africa. The new 2017-2020 Strategic Plan is therefore based on:
  • a refocusing on the activity of the guarantee,
  • a strategy targeted at SMEs and SMIs,
  • a new operational structure that respects best practices,
  • an accounting organization in line with international standards.

Thus, in view of the increasing importance of the guarantee in the prudential system of banks, the FAGACE strengthens, develops, is closer to those who make the economic development of Africa: SMEs .
