AGEG Consultants

AGEG Consultants is an internationally recognised consulting company for development policy and international cooperation. They offer professional know-how and services for short and long term projects in diverse areas of activity in development aid. For over 20 years now, bilateral and multilateral organisations, NGOs, foundations, academic institutes and private clients have relied on AGEG’s expertise. Our commitment to their goals has led to a trusted and successful cooperation throughout all phases of a project –from planning to implementation and evaluation. Established working relations exist with numerous clients, including among others GTZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit) and KfW Entwicklungsbank in Germany, as well as the European Commission and the World Bank. Their head office in Germany serves as the main point of contact for clients and partners. All projects in developing and transition countries around the globe are coordinated from our head office in Kirchheim unter Teck. The project managers located here keep a constant eye on the objectives and progress of individual projects. They coordinate the activities of the specialists and ensure smooth communication among all parties involved. They work hand in hand with the heads of our eight departments, who make decisions on technical matters and provide backup support. Roughly 20 employees in the head office work together to ensure the on-site experts can fully concentrate on their work. Over 150 experts are contracted by AGEG on a regular basis. Strongly tied to the company and its success, 38 of them are shareholders in AGEG Consultants eG, a registered cooperative since 1989. Another 42 regularly work with us as associated specialists, and at least 80 experts are employed in long-term projects. In addition, we have access to over 4,000 professionals who have registered with us. Together, they cover the broad range of skills required in all areas of operation. Key criteria for cooperation are high-level technical skills and proven cultural sensitivity.   FIELDS OF EXPERTISE Natural Resources and Rural Development AGEG’s efforts in its Natural Resources and Rural Development department focus on eradicating extreme poverty while ensuring ecological sustainability and economic development. Whether working with local actors, supporting international conferences and further education programmes or contributing to regional initiatives – together with their partners, they are facing up to the challenges that will determine the future of our planet. Health Their health care consulting services are tailored to tackle the current challenges. AGEG provides specific as well as interdisciplinary expertise. They work in a participatory manner, closely cooperating with local partners and governments throughout the project life cycle. They take harmonisation and alignment seriously, as they foster programme synergies and efficiency. “Health for All” remains the benchmark for efficient, sustainable AGEG health projects.  Education and Training They support our clients in developing education systems that allow people to secure their own livelihoods and actively shape political and economic life. They also support our clients in shaping change processes through capacity building programmes and training.  Economic Development and Employment They promote economic development in a range of different areas. Their consulting services focus on supporting small and medium-sized enterprises. AGEG designs vocational education systems that provide young people with skills and professional qualifications that increase their employability.  Human Rights and Governance     They support activities towards increasing respect of human rights and good governance. Their experts strengthen civil society organisations and foster their participation in democratic decision making processes. In addition, AGEG promotes representation of minorities in all areas of political and economic life.  Sustainable Tourism Their goal is to develop tourism projects in a sustainable manner and to adhere to the principles of sustainability in environmental, economic and sociocultural aspects of tourism development. To ensure that projects have the required fundamental acceptance from those who are affected by them, we jointly work with all stakeholders involved: non-governmental organisations (NGOs), local communities, planners, investors and political decision makers. Civil Infrastructure, Water and Urban Development They use their knowledge to ensure that living space, transportation and supply routes keep up with changing requirements and to strengthen sustainable social networks. They develop and realise neighbourhood-oriented, socially responsible and environmentally appropriate solutions like those pursued by Agenda 21 or the UN Centre for Human Settlements, HABITAT. Conflict Management They design models to balance interests and support institutions in the development of conflict management mechanisms applicable in everyday life. AGEG develops capacity building concepts and implementation strategies for peace agents and alliances that also strengthen democratic structures. They advise civil society organisations that subscribe to the principles of non-violence, conflict prevention and distributive justice. ICT4D - ICT for Development They facilitate the implementation of information and communication technologies and services on a national as well as on a local scale to speed up development processes and to establish powerful networks at all levels. They are aware that technologies have to be adapted in order to be adapted.
