The Catalan Agency for Development Cooperation (ACCD) is the agency of the Government of Catalonia responsible for managing the policies of development cooperation and humanitarian action. It is attached to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Union.
It is the main instrument of the Government and the people of Catalonia to join the international community's commitment to build a more just and united, and work to ensure access to fundamental rights and the free development of individuals and people around the world.
The main objective is to contribute to the ACCD change and encourage North-South relations, contributions and transfers of resources, knowledge and human capital, the success of the processes and patterns of development of poor countries. The Government and the people of Catalonia and join the international community in the fight against poverty and inequality, and the significant improvement in access to health, education and water, expansion of rights human and democratic governance, among others, a transformative and committed to the most disadvantaged peoples of the world.
Thus, the desire and commitment to become a good example of good practice and creating bridges of solidarity, ACCD is based on a concept of cooperation in the service of sustainable human development and to strengthen screening and values such as peace, human rights and democracy, the rights of peoples, the defense and promotion of culture, language and identity, the right to govern themselves with their own governing institutions and to define own development strategies, respect for pluralism and diversity, the principle of subsidiarity and democratic participation. In all these values, tradition Catalonia has work and can bring their experience in favor of a more equitable international order.
