The Akin Fadeyi Foundation (AFF) is a registered Not-For-Profit that works to ensure that Nigerians live fulfilling lives where they can use their human and social capital to the full extent. They focus on four key areas that encompass the issues that they are most passionate about and where they can achieve the greatest good.
Initiatives:
Corruption: Not In My County Concept
Akin Fadeyi Foundation (AFF) initiated the “Corruption: Not in My Country” to combat corruption in Nigeria by increasing transparency and accountability among the people. As a citizens-driven advocacy campaign, it aims to institute behavioral and attitudinal change, ignite national reorientation and trigger a national discourse towards sustainable national development.
AFF has conceptualized and produced 33 anti-corruption TV skits, reflecting various acts of petty corruption in diverse sectors of the economy as part of this programme. The one-minute skits are aired on National and satellite television to over 30 million Nigerians and are widely circulated on social media.
Corruption: Not in my Country is designed to complement the National Anti-corruption Strategy, through collaborative partnerships with government agencies, the private sector and civil society. It enjoys a robust partnership with the Nigerian Police Force and the National Orientation Agency, among others.
Anti-corruption advocacy campaigns to secondary school
They are passionate about working with young people, who they believe are the future of Nigeria. With a grant support of up to $100,000, from the European Union (EU) funded Anti-Corruption program managed by the UNDP and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), AFF has taken the anti-corruption message into local schools in Nigeria.
So far, successful campaigns have been carried out in about 40 schools in Lagos and Abuja, where over a thousand students have been positively impacted.
Improving Democratic Governance
They are helping to strengthen democratic institutions, to become more accessible, accountable, effective, inclusive, responsive and transparent. Their work involves advocating for government institutions that are accountable to citizens as well as providing citizens with relevant information on governance processes and access with which to hold these institutions accountable. Their partnership with the Nigeria Police Force and Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) is strategic in this regard.
