Alam Bahasa started Indonesian language (bahasa Indonesia) course, Puri Indonesian Language Plus in April 1995. In a home-like atmosphere the institution welcomed every student to be part of our Indonesian family, accompanied them to practice Indonesian language (bahasa Indonesia) and touch the culture. Puri (literally means a palace) referred to a beautiful house whose home-like atmosphere accommodated the language learning process in family hospitality. The ‘house’ has rapidly developed into a real “education center” since then.
The classroom activities are presented in the frame of the Direct Method, which is based on the Communicative Approach toward language teaching and learning. Using the Direct Method, Alam Bahahelpslp learners to identify concepts and expressions. Thus, they are able to speak as naturally as Indonesian people do. This way, the language items presented are treated as a communication means instead of soul-less linguistic building.
