Alstom in Turkey
Alstom started its activities in the 1950s, and has been a key contributor to the development of energy and rail transport infrastructure in Turkey for more than 60 years. Alstom has supplied key equipment for more than 50% Turkey’s installed power generation capacity, including the Atatürk dam, which is the largest hydro power plant in the country. Alstom has installed approximately 50% of the transmission products of TEIAS and successfully performed several key railway projects, such as Istanbul’s first Metro Line (Taksim-Levent), the delivery of 460 locomotives for the Turkish State Railways (TCDD) and the Istanbul tramway lines.
Export Champion of 2012
Today, Alstom is a social and economic contributor and is able to manage projects worldwide in power generation and transmission with approximately 1,200 employees in Turkey. The Alstom Grid’s 54.000 m2 Power Transformers Manufacturing Facility located in Gebze exports 85% of its production. According to the data of TIM (Turkey Exporters Assembly), Alstom Grid took the first place and became an exporting champion in the electricity transmission and distribution equipment category in 2012.
