Founded in 1903, the American Political Science Association is the leading professional organization for the study of political science and serves more than 13,000 members in more than 80 countries. With a range of programs and services for individuals, departments, and institutions, APSA brings together political scientists from all fields of inquiry, regions, and occupational endeavors within and outside academe to deepen their understanding of politics, democracy, and citizenship throughout the world.

The American Political Science Association enables political scientists to join together to create an environment conducive to teaching, research, and practice in all fields of political science and to ensure the necessary support for the discipline to thrive. This independent, self-governing society is committed to fostering the study of politics, strengthening the profession, and providing an organizational mechanism to serve its members as well as, more generally, political scientists and the broader public. APSA's values include deep and honest scholarship, teaching that enhances understanding of and participation in politics and government, and academic freedom to investigate political issues without interference.
