The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) is the national trade association for the U.S. wind industry – the country’s fastest growing energy industry. With thousands of wind industry members and wind policy advocates, AWEA promotes wind energy as a clean source of electricity for American consumers.
What AWEA do
Membership and leadership
As the premier organization representing the interests of America’s wind energy industry, AWEA counts more than 1,200 organizations in its membership program. Their members are wind power project developers and parts manufacturers; utilities and researchers – organizations at the forefront of the wind energy industry.
Advocates and partners
AWEA’s network of hundreds of thousands of wind energy activists hail from across the country, and these individuals call on their members of Congress to support wind energy through their advocacy program. Meanwhile, their Regional Partner organizations promote the growth of wind energy nationwide at the local and state levels.
AWEA educates lawmakers and the public about wind energy
Wind energy is affordable, clean, abundant – and made in the USA. That’s why AWEA makes the case for wind energy to policy makers and the public.
AWEA advocates for wind energy policy on Capitol Hill and across states
AWEA works with Congress and state legislatures to pass legislation that ensures America develops its rich wind resource.
In particular, they advocate for policies that extend the federal Production Tax Credit (PTC); establish state Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS); support successful siting and permitting of wind projects by government agencies; and strengthen the small, community-scale and offshore segments of the industry.
AWEA hosts the wind energy industry’s premier annual conference
Every year, AWEA hosts WINDPOWER®, the largest wind energy conference and exhibition in North America. Presenters highlight the latest industry trends, technology innovation, and renewable energy policy developments. WINDPOWER also provides unmatched access to wind industry business and technology leaders.
