AMEX was founded in 1982 to provide specialized services to government agencies, international institutions and corporations worldwide. These services include: -Stimulate economic growth by improving the competitiveness of the private sector and by cultivating a sound and enabling policy and regulatory environment; -Enhance democracy and improve governance through increased citizen participation and upholding the rule of law; -Improve administrative and management capacity; and -Procure and ship urgently needed commodities.  Having managed projects for a wide range of clients, AMEX is well recognized for its effectiveness and efficiency in delivery and performance of services. The firm is noted for its pragmatic, seasoned approach to providing technical assistance. AMEX has initiated and managed several profitable business operations in the U.S. and several foreign countries. Most of these enterprises have been joint ventures, merging outside managerial and technological know-how with local institutions and resources.     CONSULTING SERVICES Administrative, Technical and Management Support AMEX has provided outstanding professional, administrative, technical and management support to governments, institutions, and private corporations for more than twenty years. The firm’s reputation for effectiveness and efficiency is maintained and enhanced by the vast experience and pragmatic outlook of its diverse staff and its roster of expert consultants.   Information Technology AMEX assists clients in identifying and implementing solutions that improve efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of their technological infrastructure. We have a core group of qualified specialists that are experienced in integrating the latest IT advancements into business strategies.   Democracy and Governance AMEX has promoted democracy and good governance by encouraging transparency and accountability of government functions and policies, and increasing citizen participation in their country’s political and economic systems.    Private-Sector Development AMEX’s pragmatic approach and broad expertise in private-sector development start with the hands-on experience of the firm’s principals, who have formed and operated several business enterprises in developing countries and have marketed their products in the US and Europe. In addition, the firm has a long history of designing and implementing countrywide strategies for private-sector development and trade expansion. AMEX’s business development consulting services have also involved the design and implementation of comprehensive programs to encourage local participation in small business creation and trade.     PROCUREMENT AND SHIPPING SERVICES   For over two decades, AMEX has been involved in procurement and shipping of agricultural commodities and products, as well as industrial and office equipment. AMEX has demonstrated its ability to respond immediately and efficiently to emergency situations, particularly through emergency food shipments to countries such as Ethiopia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia, Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan. AMEX has purchased more than 6 million metric tons of agricultural products under the U.S. government’s Public Law 480 Title I and Title II, Section 416(b) program, the Food for Progress program, and the Export Enhancement Program. AMEX’s rapid response in bringing food aid has helped to ease the transition to democracy and free-market economies in the New Independent States (former Soviet Republics) and to alleviate food shortages caused by droughts in Africa.
