In addition, the firm has a long history of designing and implementing countrywide strategies for private-sector development and trade expansion. AMEX’s business development consulting services have also involved the design and implementation of comprehensive programs to encourage local participation in small business creation and trade.
PROCUREMENT AND SHIPPING SERVICES
For over two decades, AMEX has been involved in procurement and shipping of agricultural commodities and products, as well as industrial and office equipment. AMEX has demonstrated its ability to respond immediately and efficiently to emergency situations, particularly through emergency food shipments to countries such as Ethiopia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia, Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan.
AMEX has purchased more than 6 million metric tons of agricultural products under the U.S. government’s Public Law 480 Title I and Title II, Section 416(b) program, the Food for Progress program, and the Export Enhancement Program. AMEX’s rapid response in bringing food aid has helped to ease the transition to democracy and free-market economies in the New Independent States (former Soviet Republics) and to alleviate food shortages caused by droughts in Africa.
