Amos Trust is a small, creative human rights organisation, committed to challenging injustice, building hope and creating positive change.
Their three areas of work currently focus on promoting the rights of Street Children in South Africa, Burundi, India and Tanzania, creating a just peace for Palestine and building sustainable rural communities in Nicaragua and India.
They work with vibrant grass-roots partners around the world who are developing local solutions to global issues. Their partners are the experts they learn from – collaboration is therefore at the heart of everything they do.
Amos Trust was established in 1985 to enable singer-songwriter, Garth Hewitt, to raise awareness of the situations of injustice he had witnessed on his travels.
Many of the communities and situations he visited had only received limited international attention and quickly dropped off the international radar. So Amos Trust was set up, to tell their stories and to promote justice and hope for the forgotten.
Over 30 years on, their work has grown and developed, but their commitment remains unchanged. They believe in the value of long-term friendships with their partners, allowing us to have an in-depth understanding of the issues they face and of the numerous barriers they have to overcome to provide hope for their communities.
