AMREF and the Flying Doctors have been doing groundbreaking and internationally recognized work for more than 5 decades. AMREF is the largest, politically independent African aid organization in the medical field. AMREF has its headquarters as the only international organization in a so-called Third World Country (Nairobi / Kenya).
AMREF's mission and goal is to improve the health of the most disadvantaged people in Africa, to fight poverty and to sustainably raise the quality of life. AMREF researches applicable health promotion methods and develops cost-effective models for rural basic care systems.

AMREF provides internationally recognized research and education in numerous tropical diseases, in particular malaria and HIV / AIDS.
AMREF and the Flying Doctors operate more than 120 radio stations, a well-developed supply network and now serve almost 200 remote "bush hospitals".
AMREF operates numerous internationally recognized and funded projects in many sub-Saharan countries. Country Offices are located in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, South Africa, Ethiopia and South Sudan.
