Angkatan Koperasi Kebangsaan Malaysia Berhad (ANGKASA) was registered on 12 May 1971 under Cooperative Ordinance 33/1948. ANGKASA was established as a result of the proposal of the Second Cooperation Congress which was inaugurated by YAB Tun Abdul Razak Hussein, the second Prime Minister of Malaysia.
ANGKASA has been appointed as a cooperative that represents the cooperative movement throughout Malaysia. On May 23, 1996, this declaration of recognition was gazetted.
"In exercising the powers granted by Paragraph 57(2)(b) Act 502 Act 502 of the Cooperatives Act 1993, the Minister declared Angkatan Koperasi Kebangsaan Malaysia Berhad (ANGKASA) as the body representing the Malaysian cooperative movement at the national and international level," according to [KTPK .(S)07/49/1/9: PN. (PU2) 572/III].
As the apex body of the country's cooperative movement, ANGKASA is also a member of the ASEAN Cooperative Organization (ACO) and the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA).

MISSION
ANGKASA is Committed to Being a Catalyst of Socio-Economic Excellence in the Cooperative Movement Towards Globalization by:
1. Pioneering and Strengthening the Network and Business Value Chain of the Cooperative Economic Sector;
2. Cultivating Entrepreneurship in Cooperatives;
3. Strengthening Governance Practices Based on Cooperative Identity; and
4. Transforming the Cooperative Economic Landscape in line with the Development of Innovation and Technology.
ROLE
1. Unite and represent the Malaysian cooperative movement at the national and international level;
2. Stimulate and develop cooperative business by identifying and promoting new business areas, developing and strengthening existing businesses and creating networks at national and international levels;
3. Increase the understanding and practice of genuine cooperative values and principles in line with the Cooperative Identity Statement by ILO Recommendation 193 which recognizes cooperatives as a Social and Solidarity Economy ( SSE) that is effective for the economic, social and cultural development of the community;
4. Develop and expand cooperative business with a focus on key economic sectors, and
5. Internationalize the cooperative movement with a focus on sharing knowledge, technology and business development.
GOAL
ANGKASA is recognized by the government as a top cooperative that represents the cooperative movement at the national and international level under Section 4(3) and Section 57(3) of the Cooperative Act with the following goals:
ANGKASA Bylaws (UUK) 10(1):
i. Uniting all cooperatives in Malaysia;
i. Representing the Malaysian cooperative movement at the national and international level;
iii. Fighting for, overseeing and safeguarding the interests and development of member cooperatives in particular and the cooperative movement in general; and
iv. Facilitate the operation of member cooperatives.
