Apoyo Asociados Internacionales S.A.C. (AAI) was founded in 1993 to dedicate itself to risk classification. The Classifier is duly authorized by the Superintendency of the Securities Market (SMV) and registered in the records of the Superintendency of Banking, Insurance and AFP (SBS).
Its founders were (i) the APOYO Group, a company created in 1977; and, (ii) Clasificadores Asociados y Cia. Ltda, one of the leading companies in the risk classification system in Chile. In addition, in 1995 IBCA Limited, the leading English company in the risk classification industry, became part of the shareholding of Apoyo & Asociados. Subsequently, in 1997 Fitch Ratings acquired the IBCA Group, becoming a shareholder of Apoyo & Asociados.
In 1998, after the new Regulation of Risk Rating Companies was approved by CONASEV (currently SMV), the APOYO Group sold its stake in Apoyo & Asociados and currently this stake belongs to Holding Rating Perú S.A.C.
Apoyo & Asociados has remained the leading market rating agency since the creation of the classification industry in Peru. Its main analysts have more than 15 years of experience, which added to the expertise of its partner Fitch Ratings at an international level, have allowed it to obtain wide recognition from investors, international fund providers and the capital market in general.
In this regard, Apoyo & Asociados has classified the majority of the main issues in the country, having a significant participation in the classification of structured finance, as well as in the classifications of corporate companies and financial institutions.
At present, Fitch Ratings is one of the three main international rating agencies worldwide, with a presence in around 90 countries. The affiliation with international classification companies since its inception, has allowed Apoyo & Asociados to apply international standards in its classification processes, adapting various methodologies to the Peruvian reality.
