Founded in 2001, APRED is a scientific and practical association (institute) dedicated to : - the promotion and achievement of peace by peaceful means, - increasing the knowledge and practice of peace in all realms of society, - working for the establishment of non-violent human institutions. In this spirit, APRED, through the study, the respect and the promotion of non-militarization and demilitarisation, wishes to encourage the adoption of methods of prevention and peaceful transformation of conflicts in conformance with the great principles established as human rights and international law. Said otherwise, APRED wishes for all conflicts to be handled with dignity. By demonstrating the adequacy and the advantages of non-military solutions APRED hopes, in the long run , to develop and promote the concept of the non-violent state. What we do - Setting up general peace policies as gorvernmental or NGO policy at any time, in example to help fulfill the human right to peace. - Setting up general peace policies before, after or during conflict. - Doing statiscal research on the state of demilitarisation or militarisation of a society, on the base of our statistical indicator of militarisation. This index can be used by development agencies and companies (private and official) or (private and public)investors. We then issue a statement/report of compliance or non-compliance with good governance and best practices. - We also do consultancy on other peace matters such as peace journalism and peace-tourism. - We gives conferences on demilitarization and non-military security matters, at official and scholar levels.
