arche noVa - initiative for people in need is a non-profit- and non-governmental organisation from Dresden/Germany working primarily on the field of humanitarian aid, development cooperation and education. Regardless of the victims' ethnicity and ideology we support all those who suffer from war, suppression and natural disasters. With special regard to discriminated social groups our main aim is the rapid and unbureaucratical provision of sustainable aid in order to ease adversity and to assist self-help initiatives. To guarantee fast and effective action in difficult situations we offer our logistics and experience to local cooperating partners.
Where does the name arche noVa stand for?
Whereas biblical Noah was transporting animals on his ark the new ark – arche noVa – is carrying aid supplies and pharmaceuticals. For the sake of speedy transportation today we´ve substituted the biblical boat by airplane and trucks, though. And there´s another characteristic distinguishing us from our biblical ancestor: we do not share the conviction that poverty and neediness are God-given but confront their causes worldwide.
To guarantee for a maximum degree of transparency arche noVa is voluntarily undergoing the annual audit of the DZI (German Institute for Social Matters). Since 1995 arche noVa has permanently been awarded the Institute´s donation seal for exemplary transparency and efficiency in the application of donations.
