About

Arquitexto originated in the university. It was an idea born in the Faculty of Architecture and Arts of the National University Pedro Henriquez Urena, and materialized a few years later.

The magazine was founded in 1985 and covered a gap in the dissemination of architectural practice in the country. It emerged as a joint effort of the architects Jesús Bueno, Hernani and Lourdes Montalvo Periche. At the first stage twelve numbers were published. The economic situation of the country in the early nineties caused a pause, and the magazine resurged with a new momentum in 1996.

This time directed by the architects Periche Lourdes Ortega and Carmen; the latter had served as manager of the writing team from the edition number four. Thereafter, the publishing Arquitexto work has been steady, achieving consolidated as the recording medium practice the exercise of architecture in the Dominican Republic and in which ideas about the main topics regarding the exercise exposed.

In 2004, Arquitexto becomes part of Arquitexto Editor, a publishing house that focuses on promoting the Dominican architectural culture. It is the beginning of other more formal publications in which plasma vast experience in editing and publishing.

A competitive market, some high printing costs, adaptation to the times and new technologies are challenges imposed. Hence the editorial board of Arquitexto not cease in its efforts to achieve increasingly stringent publication in content and presentation of professional service and reassert the preference of readers.

Managing the editorial content of Arquitexto is in charge of the editorial committee, made up of publishers, managers of sections and fixed equipment columnists. It also has an Advisory Council, composed of technical and reputable professionals. It prevails in the decision-making processes, transparency and consensus, considering the opinions and criticism of the group.
