The Guatemalan Banking Association -ABG-, is the civil and trade union association, made up of all the Banking entities and Private Financial Companies authorized to operate in Guatemala. It was incorporated on September 8, 1961 and is a Founding Member of the Latin American Federation of Banks -FELABAN-, in which it has representation through its Technical Committees.
Main Objectives:
- Defend and ensure the interests of its members promptly and diligently.
- Issue an opinion on the bills and regulations that arise in financial matters or related to the banking system, as well as manage before the respective authorities and bodies the issuance of those provisions that it deems appropriate, or the modification of existing ones.
- Advocate for the modernization of banking practices and financial instruments, to promote savings and stimulate investment in projects that benefit national economic development.
- Ensure that the best financial and trust conditions are maintained in the Country.
- Ensure that the institutional structure of the banking system allows the best development of its activities in general, in line with modern practices, both nationally and internationally.
- Help the national financial system to maintain a fluid flow of resources that guarantee the normal development of the country's productive activities.
- Provide support to its associate members through the electronic banking interconnection service.
