The Association of Argentine Women Meretrices, was created at the beginning of the year 1995, in the autonomous city of Buenos Aires at the same time it is integrated to the Central of Argentine Workers (CTA). Starting in 2000, they began to organize in Córdoba, creating a new subsidiary.
Tired of the constant and systematic repression, persecution and discrimination, they began to fight for their visibility as women with their own voices. Being a collective they understood that the organization is the force and the motor that they need to demolish prejudices myths and conquer their rights, aimed to leave the underground that only benefits the mafias.
They are the union of sex workers, they seek respect for human and labor rights in the sector.
AMMAR is made up of women of legal age, who by choice and self-will choose sex work as a means of survival.
When they talk about the sector, it is impossible to characterize it in one way, since sex work is carried out by people of different social classes and in different conditions, but they can affirm that when they talk about sex work it is always a choice.
