About

ARCC is a non-profit volunteer organization established in SNNPRS and has been legally registered and certified by the Regional Bureau of Justice.

The Association for Research and Conservation of Cultures, ARCC, is governed by an Executive board which is democratically elected by the General Assembly. Membership to the Association is open to all. The Board is composed of five members.

The General assembly is the highest authority and meets once in a year. The Executive Board, which is accountable to the General Assembly, meets quarterly and reports to the General Assembly. The Executive Director of the Association is responsible for every daily business of the Association and is accountable to the Board. The Program Manager is responsible for every program and is accountable to the Executive Director.

Mission Statement

To promote research and conservation of the history, cultures and cultural landscapes of the South and South Western peoples of Ethiopia.

Objectives

The Association for Research and Conservation of Cultures (ARCC) has the following objectives:

1. To promote and conserve the history, culture and cultural landscapes of the South and South western peoples of Ethiopia.

2. To work for increased legal protection of sacred sites, cultural and natural heritages.

3. To ensure the sustainability of the organization, and

4. To work towards increase in local and international networking of the association.

Strategies

1. Conduct research, mapping and inventory of places of cultural and natural significances; and present findings, conclusions and recommendations to government bodies and academic institutions.

2. Encourage local scholars to author and publish their books.

3. Work closely with local, regional and federal authorities to enforce laws and regulations.

4. Work closely with communities, their traditional and religious leaders.

5. Hand over of documents and research findings to responsible bodies.

6. Encourage women to play an active role towards the fulfillment of the objectives of ARCC.

7. Work towards identifying additional and alternative sources of funds.

8. Work towards better local and international networking.
