AVA is a non-profit organization that aims at addressing issues for the betterment of society in general and the disadvantaged in particular. Registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1861, in Orissa, for providing training and knowledge dissemination at community level, it has strengthened its professional, organizational and managerial capability to address a diversified agenda, at State and national level that is still within the purview of its aim. The major thrust of AVA is to identify problem areas relating to planning, implementation and monitoring and come out with solutions both in terms of remedial measures and its adoption. In this way AVA has this unique distinction of being an organization to provide solutions and also to undertake implementation of the solutions prescribed in selected cases based on the requirements of a user. In order to be able to do this, AVA has a multi-disciplinary group of professionals who have made mark in their respective areas, are people oriented and believe in teamwork. It has tie up with agencies specialized in survey and data processing work for undertaking fieldwork anywhere in the country. It has also established links with a few established NGOs in other regions engaged in project implementation and Training. Besides, it has a group of dedicated people with wide experience in community mobilization, community participation and community empowerment. The multidisciplinary nature of AVA together with its access to survey and data processing facilities and its community organizers make it unique in addressing issues in variety of areas even on a turnkey basis.
AVA has developed its own strategy sin handling issues in its areas of expertise. Once a problem is raised, AVA constitutes a technical group from among a host of professionals who are its members to discuss all aspects of the problem threadbare and come out with a strategy on how to address it. Depending upon the type of problem to be handled, a project team is constituted and a project leader is identified to guide the project team with the technical group serving as an advisory body. The project leader is chosen from among the advisors of AVA who have extensive experience in the area under question. The project team consists of an inter-disciplinary group of professionals. It is AVA policy to maintain constant interaction with the user at different stages of the project planning and implementation. This helps in maintaining transparency in the whole operation and creates better understanding between AVA and its user. AVA motto is to handle the requirements of its users in the most professional and practical way. Since most of the senior professionals of AVA have longstanding experience in both project planning and implementation, the solutions suggested tend to be practical and not academic.
AVA has 3 divisions namely ‘Project Development & Implementation’, ‘HR & Training’ and Monitoring & Evaluation. It undertakes action projects under the action division and takes up many monitoring, evaluation, impact study and similar survey and research assignments under consulting division. Under HR and Training division AVA undertakes different skill development trainings and many sensitization programmes.
It has worked in the field of welfare of Aged , Divyangjan,Health, Water & Sanitation, Livelihood, Women and Child Development, Adolescent Health, Maternal Health, HIV/AIDS, Agriculture, and the SHG movement of Odisha. They have association/partnership with organization like NACO/ OSACS, Government of India and Government of Odisha and other donor.
