About

The Afdet (French association for the development of therapeutic education) aims to promote therapeutic education of the patient, at the national and territorial level. It is a not-for-profit association that brings together health professionals, in all their diversity, but also other professionals (psychologists, sociologists, medical-sports educators, etc.) and representatives of patient associations.

It was founded in January 1989, under the name Diabetes education study group. In 2003, she became the Delf (Diabetes Education French). It carries its present name since February 2011.

Originally created by professionals in diabetology, the AFDET remains in close contact with the French Diabetes Society (SFD) SFD and paramedic. In 2011, its name change and status simply confirmed the openness initiated for several years to professionals and patients confronted with other chronic diseases than diabetes.

The objectives of the AFDET specified in its articles of association:

• Training in multi-professional, the players involved in the therapeutic education
• Contribute to the development of research in therapeutic education
• Ensure the dissemination of scientific work in this area and valorisation of experiences including:
- the organization of the congress health education
- by publishing a magazine

• Participate in various health institutions on therapeutic education
• work in partnership with other scientific societies or Associations involved in therapeutic education.
