Association Jeunesse Action Mali (AJA-Mali) - Youth Action Association
About

Established in 1993 (by young artisans and former employees of the ILO's Unorganized Sector Support Project) and approved by framework agreement N0 460 of 12 July 1994, the Action Mali Youth Association, better known under its acronym d 'AJA-Mali is par excellence one of the most dynamic associations in Mali in its fight against youth unemployment. Indeed, in Mali, children working in the traditional crafts and / or in the informal sector see their number increased each year. These children, most of them under the age of 15, with little or no schooling, come from very poor families. The capital Bamako and the other regions record thousands of workshops that are active in the garages, iron, metals and wood sectors.

By 2025, the rate of urbanization in Mali is likely to reach 45%. This growth in the rate of urbanization raises the problem of job creation in cities. According to a survey of employment by the Employment and Training Observatory, the number of workers in the informal sector increased by more than 100% in 7 years, ie 1,176,064 in 1996. It is strong from this observation that the Association Youth Action has committed since its creation fight for  "a Mali without unemployed". A far from hollow slogan or a utopian dream is rather the rallying cry of AJA Mali in its historic crusade. To make Mali a country where there would be work for all.

Adding several actions to its objectives AJA Mali coordinated by Souleymane SARR, its Managing Director and piloted by all its staff has produced to date very satisfactory results. To this end, the organization has developed expertise in Business Creation and Management Incubators, for young groups aged between 18 and 35 years who are disadvantaged: unskilled school drop-outs, craftsmen and agro-producers Pastoral activities in business without market opportunity, unemployed graduates etc. In urban and rural areas AJA-Mali combats poverty through education, information, awareness-raising, vocational training and above all the integration of young people through an impressive periodic follow-up.

MISSION AND VALUES

The main mission of the Youth Action Association is to contribute to and promote the reduction of poverty in Mali through the education, training, support and socio-economic integration of young people. This chain of actions follows an ingeniously determined process on a scale of successive steps which can only end with satisfactory results.
