About Local Press
The Association of Independent Local Media "Local Press" started working at the end of 1995. Several local print media came together to form an informal network of media outlets that, despite strong pressure from the Milosevic regime, report in the public interest and in accordance with professional standards.
"If nothing else, each of us will know that he is not alone in this madness," said Pavle Ćirović, director of the Kragujevac weekly "Svetlost", and a man who is the idea creator and founder of "Lokal presa".
The basis of this idea was the fact that is still relevant today, that local media can only realize their interests together.
The Business Association of the Association of Independent Local Media "Local Press" as a legal entity was formally constituted on March 22, 2002. It is registered to perform the activities of business associations based in Kragujevac.
The Local Press Association contributes to media and speech freedom by improving the capacity of local media and media regulation.
MISSION
Through the improvement of media laws, the Local Press Association improves the professional standards and internal capacities of local media by providing citizens with quality and objective information in order to encourage freedom of speech in local communities.
Successfully responding to the needs of membership through the adoption of new business models and specialized education PU "Local Press" improves professional and technical standards of membership, providing financial support to members and citizens in Serbia timely, quality and objective information to encourage freedom of speech at the local level.
VISION
The Local Press Association contributes to media and speech freedom by improving the capacity of local media and media regulation.
By successfully synchronizing "Local Press" activities with the mission of non-governmental organizations and media at the local level, "Local Press" intends to ensure the continuous operation of local media - watchdogs in small communities.
