Vision
History
The Rural Development Project of the Sierra de los Cuchumatanes - PCUCH - was installed in the municipality of Chiantla in 1,994, with the purpose of supporting agricultural and livestock producers in nine municipalities, especially in the rural area. In 1995, after having made the respective recognition, it was found that in some communities formal organizations existed, without technical assistance and without financing, with the desire to excel but did not find the right path to fulfill their goals. In January 1998, on the initiative of the Project Executive Committee and leaders of the organizations, the USERS COMMITTEE was created. This was initially constituted by women from Communal Banks, Interest Groups and Formal Organizations, and with the support of the Cuchumatanes Project defined, approved its objectives, functions and organizational structure. Later, its members changed and purified themselves according to the internal dynamics of the team.
The main objectives of this committee were:
1. to serve as a link between the users of the Project services and the Executive Directorate
2. to ensure the rational and efficient use of the Project's resources, destined for the benefit of the communities.
Faced with the concern of the organizations to articulate in a SECOND GRADE ORGANIZATION, the users committee began a consultation process through various sources, they visited some second degree organizations, they were advised by professionals outside the Cuchumatanes Project, they raised the concern before different instances such as supervision missions and mid-term evaluation mission and subsequently sought legal advice in order to know the pros and cons of each of the legal figures they could adopt.
This is how in 1,998 the Association of Organizations of the Cuchumatanes ASOCUCH was born, which in the year 2000 achieved its legal status and thereafter grows and strengthens continuously
