They work closely with other agencies to share knowledge, expertise and intelligence in order to detect, deter and prosecute those who attempt to do them harm at the border. The work they do contributes to safeguarding Australia's national security.

Operational Safety Order

The ABF’s Operational Safety Order (2021) sets out the ABF operational safety and use of force practice, reporting, training, assessment, qualification and administration requirements. This Order gives effect to the policy of the ABF for the use of reasonable force and its implementation. It is designed to ensure that BFOs effectively manage the response to conflict or potential conflict situations using the ABF Use of Force Model and Operational Safety Principles stipulated within the Order.
