About

The Panama Tourism Authority (ATP) is an entity of the Government of the Republic of Panama. He works to promote the tourism sector, one of the country's economic pillars, and is responsible for promoting Panama as a tourist destination.

The tourism industry currently contributes 11% of Panama's gross domestic product, which represents around 5 billion dollars in foreign currency annually; generates 40 thousand direct jobs and 100 thousand indirect ones.

Through the Sustainable Tourism Master Plan (PMTS) 2020-2025, the Panama Tourism Authority (ATP) aims to strengthen tourism activity as a strategic economic sector of Panama, developing in this sense a sustainable model that generates an increase of employment at the national level, integrate communities, articulate territories and increase the competitiveness of the industry.

The Tourism-Conservation-Research (TCI) strategy is integrated into the PMTS that includes a strategy that allows the conservation of the cultural and natural heritage of the country, the studies that are developed around these and the tourist development as a source of value for the resources themselves, according to the TCI the quality and authenticity of these attractions give to Panama a unique competitive strength worldwide.

Each member of the industry's value chain actively participates in this process, to work in harmonious collaboration, exchange ideas and knowledge, which help maximize opportunities and guarantee long-term benefits.

Tourism plays an important role in strengthening Panama as a center of connectivity, conducive to attracting foreign investment and with a diversity of leisure activities for nationals and foreign visitors in the various destinations that offer a cultural, natural and historical wealth with the potential of meet the expectations of today's tourist and provide unique and authentic experiences based on awareness of resource conservation and sustainability.
