BACTEC: Global UXO, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and Mine Action Company

BACTEC is an international Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and Landmine Clearance Company, providing risk mitigation services Established in 1991, BACTEC support construction projects and worldwide explosive ordnance clearance initiatives on and off shore.

Following WWI, WWII and numerous worldwide conflicts during the past 100 years, land mines and unexploded ordnance contamination has become widespread. Current estimates from the United Nations are that over 70 countries are now affected by the explosive remnants of war (ERW); ordnance contamination and/or landmine problems affect many countries. A smaller number of countries experience these problems but to a lesser degree.

Over the last 25 years BACTEC has worked in over 45 countries and has been directly engaged with the clearance of more than 500,000 landmines and thousands of tons of unexploded ordnance, clearing or verifying as clear, over 17,000,000 square meters of contaminated terrain.

BACTEC's intention is to radically reduce or eliminate entirely, where possible, the risk posed by the contamination caused by unexploded ordnance (UXO) and land mines. This will help reduce the impact explosive ordnance contamination causes to a country's infrastructure, which in turn will help serve to support future development and improve people's lives socially, economically and environmentally.
