THE COMMERCIAL BANK OF BURUNDI "BANCOBU" was incorporated under the laws in force in Burundi on June 13, 1960. Prior to this date, its banking activities were carried out respectively by the Banque Belge du Congo and the Société Congolaise de Banque (SOCOBANK). BANCOBU was owned by ING Belgium (ex-BANQUE BRUXELLES LAMBERT: BBL) up to 49% until 2004, when these shares were bought by Burundian shareholders.
